Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly linkup of book bloggers hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week, we’re talking about the books that most recently made it onto our bookshelves. Since I’m a big Kindle reader, I’m going to include the five most recent e-books, as well as the five most recent hard copies!
Killingly: Based on a true story, this book is about a young woman who disappears from her college at the end of the 1800s. I do love a campus novel!
Birding While Indian: A memoir from a Native American guy about both his own life and the birdwatching that he loves.
The Witch King: I’ve heard great things about Martha Wells’s Murderbot novellas, and this, her latest fantasy novel, has gotten good reviews too!
Burn It Down: I love pop culture, but loving pop culture means knowing that a lot of people who make the things we watch are not great and this book from a longtime entertainment reporter exposes the yuck behind all the glitter of Hollywood
Camp Damascus: If you are not Very Online enough to know who Chuck Tingle is, that’s honestly probably the better way to be. But the notorious microfiction author came out with a full-length horror novel about conversion therapy and it’s actually quite well-reviewed!
Mr. B: I have pigeon toes and awful turnout, I basically flunked out of ballet. But I do think it’s a beautiful form of art, and of course George Balanchine is one of its most legendary choreographers so this book sparked my interest!
The Once Upon a Time World: A history of the French Riveria and all the glamorous people who spent time there, which is my sweet spot.
Western Lane: A coming-of-age story about a sporty girl with great reviews, so OBVIOUSLY I am interested.
Femina: I used to think history was boring but realized that’s because I find boy drama (read: war) only occasionally interesting. Turns out when you get the stories of women, it’s a lot more fun! This book examines the Middle Ages through the history of women so I’m really intrigued.
Dancer from the Dance: One of the classic queer novels.
