Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly linkup of book bloggers hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week, we’re previewing our reading for the winter season to come. As usual, I have a variety of books on my list: nonfiction, literary fiction, science fiction. And if you think about it, you’ll be able to spot something that I’m doing next year (the first book in the list will be read before the end of this year, so it doesn’t count).

Slouching Towards Bethlehem: I love Joan Didion’s writing but have never read her most famous essay collection.
The Warmth of Other Suns: This is one of those books that gets constantly recommended if you like non-fiction and we know I do!
Such a Fun Age: This was longlisted for the Booker and very trendy when it came out in 2020 so I’m looking forward to getting to it.
The Fifth Season: I’ve heard great things about N.K. Jemison’s sci-fi generally and this one in particular!
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe: Every so often I dip my toes back into young adult books and this one was especially well-reviewed.
The Old Fire: I do like to mix in some new releases, and this tale of sisters and long-buried secrets seems like my sort of thing.
Kindred: A modern classic I am embarrassed I haven’t read yet!
When They Call You a Terrorist: This is a memoir from one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement and I’m curious to read her account of its formation.
The Black Calhouns: This is a family history written by Lena Horne’s daughter, chronicling the generations since her great-grandfather, born a slave, through her mother’s career as a starlet and her own life, which sounds really interesting!
Norwegian Wood: This will be my third Murakami.
I hope that you enjoy reading all of these.

THE WARMTH OF OTHER SUNS is definitely an interesting read, but it’s also a doorstopper that has A LOT of detail and gets very repetitive. I had to force myself to finish it because it drags quite a bit. I hope you enjoy it and all your other picks!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
