Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly linkup of book bloggers hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week, we’re talking about the books we’re reading this summer. As usual, I’ve got a mix of fiction and nonfiction, with YA and history and sci-fi and memoir all rattling around in there.
The Color of Magic: I’ve always wanted to read Discworld, and though I know most people don’t recommend starting with the first book, I am too much of a purist not to.
Supreme Power: This book has been on my list for ages (as a recovering attorney I am always interested in the Court), but in this age of swirling concern about the Court it feels extra relevant.
Martyr!: I am finally going to get back to my book club to read this one, which I am honestly not sure how much I’ll like but was recommended to me heartily by a friend.
The Original Black Elite: This honestly just seems like an interesting look at a period in history I don’t know much about.
The Thorn Birds: This was a big giant bestseller back in the day so I am curious to see how it holds up.
I Want to Burn This Place Down: I love Maris (though I often do not share her reading taste), I subscribe to her newsletter, I have a copy of Slaughterhouse 90210, of course I will be reading this.
The Diviners: My second stab at Libba Bray…I found the first stab pretty meh.
The Inconvenient Indian: This Native American-authored book explores the history of relations between North American indigenous people and the continent’s colonizers, always an interesting subject
Darling Days: I’ve heard good things about this one, and I’m curious about iO’s perspective on gender and sexuality and identity.
An Anthropologist on Mars: My beloved Oliver Sacks.
